#21 - Maths With Fun Puzzle

See the given picture. Can you find out the combined weight of Cat, Dog and Rabbit?

Maths With Fun Puzzle

Let us use equations to solve this puzzle.

Rabbit + Cat = 10 Kg ---- Eq. 1
Dog + Rabbit = 20 Kg ---- Eq. 2
Cat + Dog = 24 Kg ---- Eq. 3

Now add all the three equations

2(Cat) + 2(Dog) + 2(Rabbit) = 10 + 24 + 24
2 (Cat + Dog + Rabbit) = 54
Cat + Dog + Rabbit = 27.

#25 - Flipkart Interview Puzzle

You and your two friends are working in a multinational company. How can you three find out the average salary of you all without disclosing your own salary to the other two ?

Flipkart Interview Puzzle

Let us say that the three people are A, B and C respectively. Now you, A will tell the sum of your salary and a random number to B.
SA (Actual Salary) + A (random number of A)

In the same manner your friend B, will add his salary with a random number to the amount given by A (you) and will pass it to C.
(SA + A) + (SB + B)

C will do the same.
(SA + A) + (SB + B) + (SC + C)

Now C will pass this total amount to A. He will subtract his random number from the amount and it will become:
(SA) + (SB + B) + (SC + C)

Then he will pass it to B and B will subtract his random number from the amount.
(SA) + (SB) + (SC + C)

Then he will pass this to C who will subtract his random number.
(SA) + (SB) + (SC)

Now C has the total amount of their combined salaries. He will tell the amount to all of you and you can easily divide it by 3 to get the average salary.

Three people check into a hotel. They pay $60 as the rent of the room. After they check-in, the manager realize that the rent for the room is $55. So, he gives $5 to the bellboy and asks him to give it to them. The bellboy thinks that it will be difficult for the three people to share $5 among them and seeking the personal benefit, he pockets $2 and gives the remaining $3 to them.

Now, each person paid $20 and got back $1. In this manner, each of them paid just $19 which totals to the amount of $57. The bellboy has $2 with him and adding them, we get $59. So where is the remaining $1?

#28 - Tic Tac Toe Riddle

This is basically a game of Tic-Tac-Toe which you all might have played innumerable times. Here, we are playing with the black and white markers instead. Also, there is a bit change to the rules. The changed rules allows you to play just three times. After the three markers are put by each of the players, you can only slide your marker into an empty square that shares a common wall with the square that the marker is leaving. You can refer to the figure given. If this is the position of the game, the white's next move would be from 6 to 3. Now, whatever the black does, the white one will move his marker from 5 to 2 and he will have a three in a row. What you have to decide is if both of the players are using a perfect strategy, will the white player (who plays first) always win? Or it will be the black one who will win always? Or every game will be a draw?

Tic Tac Toe Riddle

Let us try and make the white win when black's first move is to a non-corner square. White begins at 5 and black places its first marker at 2. White puts at 9 and black puts at 1. White plays at 3. Now if black puts at 7 to block, white will move from 5 to 6 and will win. But in this game, black can only play his last marker at 6. White can't win on the next move as his market at square 9 won't be able to get to square 7 in a single move. But white cam get to square 7 before black can block him or win. White will move from 8 to 7 to win the game. Thus, white can always force a win if he starts from the center of the square.
