I desperately needed to go to the restroom. What two questions did I asked so I could figure with restroom was meant for whom ?

Statements Riddle

The first question I asked was "Is this restroom for men?" while pointing at one of them. I just remembered the word he said. Then I asked "Am I a man?" Now I knew that the second response will mean yes only. Thus I could compare the second response with the first to find out if the restroom I pointed at was correct or not.

If he says the same word, then the restroom I pointed at must be for males only. If he said a different word, the restroom I pointed at will be wrong and for females.

A lion and its tamer are standing inside a cage that measures 1 unit in radius. Both of them can effortlessly run at the speed of 1 unit maximum.

1) Suppose the lion is hungry, will he be able to eat up the tamer?
2) If yes, how long can the tamer survive?

Samsung Logic Interview Puzzle

There can be two possibilities:

The tamer runs on the perimeter
If he runs on the perimeter, the lion will eventually catch him. If the lion follows the radius of the tamer, his trajectory will be half the circle and not a spiral. Thus he will catch the tamer in a finite time.

The tamer does not runs on the perimeter
If he does that, clearly he has an escape strategy and that will work for an infinite time.

A convention is held where all the big logicians are summoned. The master places a band on everyone’s forehead. Now all of them can see others’ bands but can’t see his own. Then they are told that there are different colors of bands. All the logicians sit in circle and they are further explained that a bell will ring at regular intervals. The moment when a logician knew the color of band on his forehead, he will leave at the next bell. If anyone leaves at the wrong bell, he will be disqualified.

The master assures the logicians that the puzzle will not be impossible for anyone of them. How will the logicians manage ?

Qualcomm Logic Interview Puzzle

First the logicians will have to take a leap of logic. The master has told them that it won’t be impossible for any logician to solve the puzzle. Thus it is assure that any of the color can’t exist only once. If it did, the one wearing it will have no clue about that color which would be unfair for him.

Now every logician will look around in the circle and count the number of times they see a particular color. If a color is seen only once, then the logician will know that the color on his band must be of the same color (as per the leap of logic). And then the logician will leave on the first bell.

In the similar fashion, any logician who see any color just once will be able to identify his own color and they will leave when the bell rings or they will be disqualified and asked to leave. Equivalently, any color for which there are two bands, will be eliminated after the first bell has rung. Thus there must be three bands of any remaining color at least.

Assume that a logician don’t see any color once, but sees a color twice. If they were the only bands of this color then the two logicians must have left at the first bell. But they did not. Thus it means that his band color is the same and he will leave on the second bell.

There is an ancient kingdom where every married women keeps information regarding the fidelity of other men. However what they don't know is the fidelity of their own husbands. Also there is an ancient belief due to which they don't tell each other about the fidelity of their husbands.

On a certain day, the queen of the kingdom declares that she has identified at least one unfaithful man in the kingdom. She allows the wives to identify and gives them authority to kill their husband if they are unfaithful at midnight.

How will the wives manage it?

ZS Associates Interview Induction Logic

Let us begin with the assumption that only one man is unfaithful. In that case everyone except wife of his will know about him. But his wife will know that all other men are unfaithful and on the statement of queen that there is at least one unfaithful man in the kingdom, she will shoot his husband at midnight.

Now assume that there are two unfaithful men in the kingdom. Then their wives will know about one unfaithful man. So they will wait for the midnight. But when nobody will be shot at midnight, they will come to know that there must be more than one unfaithful husband and they will come to know that their husband is also unfaithful. Thus both of them will shoot their husbands at midnight.

Assume that there are three unfaithful husbands. Their wives will know about the two unfaithful men and they will wait for two midnights but when nobody will be shot, they will come to know that there are more than two unfaithful men and they will understand that their own husband is unfaithful. Thus they will shoot their husbands at the third midnight.

Thus for any general case where there are n unfaithful husbands, each of their wives will believe there are n-1 unfaithful husband and will be expecting a shot on the midnight of n-1 day. When they don't hear any gunshot, they will realize that their own husband was the nth.
