#51 - Water Tank Fill Puzzle

There is a huge water tank and there are four pipes that can fill the water tank.

> The first pipe can fill the water tank completely in exact 2 days.
> The first pipe can fill the water tank completely in exact 3 days.
> The first pipe can fill the water tank completely in exact 4 days.
> The first pipe can fill the water tank completely in exact 6 hours

Let's say we opened all the pipes simultaneously, how long will it take the water tank to be filled completely?

Water Tank Fill Puzzle

288/61 hours (4 hours, 43 minutes and 17 seconds approx)

In 1 hour, the ratio of water tank filled by pipes:
1st pipe: 1/48
2nd pipe: 1/72
3rd pipe: 1/96
4th pipe: 1/6

All togther
1/48 + 1/72 + 1/96 + 1/6
=> (6+4+3+48) / 288 = 61/288.
=> 288/61 hours,

which is 4 hours 43 minutes and about 17 seconds.

#52 - Employee Count Maths Brain Teaser

A small media company got 20 employees.

The employee consists of reporters, camera-man and the writers
Every reporter earns daily $3, camera-man 1.5$ and writers earn 0.5$

How many reporters, camera-man and the writers are there?

Employee Count Maths Brain Teaser

reporters=2, camera-man=5 and the writers=13

Let the number of reporters, camera-man, and writers are denoted by r, c, and m respectively.

From the given information we can write the following 2 equations;
r + c + m = 20 . . . . . . (1)
3r + 1.5c + 0.5m = 20 . . . . . (2)

Multiplying equation (2) by 2 we get;
6r + 3c + m = 40 . . . . . (2)

equation3 - equation 1
5r + 2c = 20

The unique solution with whole numbers is r = 2 & c = 5

Therefore from equation(1) we can find;
m = 13

=> reporters=2, camera-man=5 and the writers=13

#53 - Hardest River Crossing Puzzle

In a word of riddles called Briddles, 9 numbers from 1 - 9 want to reach to the other side of the river. Since its a world of riddles, therefore, there are some rules:

Rule-1: Maximum 3 numbers can cross at a time.
Rule-2: River cannot sail on its own.
Rule-3: The sum of numbers crossing at a time must be a square number.

You need to plan trips such that minimum trips are needed for all numbers to cross.

Hardest River Crossing Puzzle

7 Trips

Send 2+5+9 = 16
Bring back 9
Send 3+4+9 = 16
Bring back 9
Send 1+7+8 = 16
Bring back 1
Send 1+6+9 = 16

#59 - Lateral Thinking Height Of Red Bar Puzzle

Can you determine the height of red bar with the help of information provided in the picture below?

Lateral Thinking Height Of Red Bar Puzzle

8m

From green bar, we can deduce that
the height of vertical bar = 2/3 of uninterrupted shadow length of the bar.

Therefore shadow of 6m of red bar indicates the height of 4m.
The remaining red bar casts a direct 1:1 vertical projection on the wall.

Therefore total length = 4m + 4m = 8m.

#60 - Logic Equation Puzzle

Can you identify the logic behind the equation below and solve the puzzle by completing the equation?

12 + 13 + 7 = 1
15 + 16 + 11= 2
17 + 18 + 16 = ?

4

Logic Used: Sum the numbers and then subtract the two digits to get the desired answer.

12 + 13 + 7 => 32 => 3 - 2 => 1
15 + 16 + 11 =>42 => 4 -2 => 2
17 + 18 + 16 = 51 => 5 -1 => 4
